Green Public Procurement Awards – GPP Awards 2015 in Cyprus

On December 01, 2015, the Department of Environment in collaboration with Cyprus Energy Agency organised the second Awards Ceremony of Green Public Procurement in Cyprus.

The award ceremony took place in Nicosia, at the Cleopatra Hotel, in the Old City. The ceremony was part of the project GreenS + funded by the "Horizon 2020" programme of the European Commission.

The awards of Green Public Procurement, along with two honorary awards held by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Mr. Niko Kouyiali.

The following Green Public Procurement prizes were awarded to the contracting authorities:

  • The first prize contracting authority for integrated policy in Green Public Procurement awarded to the Water Board of Nicosia.
  • The second prize contracting authority for integrated policy in Green Public Procurement awarded to the Department of Electrical and Mechanical Services (Ministry of Transport, Communications and Work).
  • The third prize contracting authority entity for integrated policy in Green Public Procurement awarded to the Cyprus Agriculture Payment Organization and to the Kokkinochoria Cooperative Credit Society LTD.
  • Honorary Distinction for Integrated GPP Policy, awarded to the Sewerage Board of Limassol and to the Water Board of Larnaca.
  • The award for Green Public Procurement for purchases in the category office IT equipment and electrical household appliances was awarded to the Water Board of Nicosia.
  • The award for Green Public Procurement for purchases in the lighting category was awarded to the Kokkinochoria Cooperative Credit Society LTD.
  • The award for Green Public Procurement for purchases in the category of passenger vehicles was awarded to Police of Cyprus.
  • Honorary Distinctions in the category of vehicles were awarded to the Nicosia Municipality and to the Forest Department of Cyprus.
  • The award for Green Public Procurement for purchases in the category of air conditioners was awarded to Cyprus University of Technology.
  • The award for Green Public Procurement for purchases in the category of building construction was awarded to the Public Works Department, to the Department of Electrical and Mechanical Services and to the Pharmaceutical Services of Cyprus for the energy efficient building of the Pharmaceutical Services of Cyprus.

 

The awards ceremony was attended by over 50 people, representatives of ministries, governmental departments and agencies, organizations in the broader public sector, local authorities, professional associations and private organizations.
